The County Attorney is expected to fulfill all of the duties described in Montana law for this elected official position, as well as the office of County Administrator. The County Attorney oversees a staff that includes two Deputy County Attorneys, a Legal Secretary, and a Victim Witness Advocate. The office is located at the Courthouse in Townsend, Montana. This position will be appointed by the County Commission, to fill the remainder of the current elected term of office. The position will be subject to election in 2026. Upon appointment, the County Attorney must become an elector of Broadwater County.

The salary is based on a combination of State and County payment, $137,000 a year. The salary is subject to COLA adjustments and State employee raises annually.
