Seeking Misdemeanor Minute clerk that will be responsible for maintaining misdemeanor court records, attending court, taking minutes of court proceedings on misdemeanor and traffic cases; issue notices pertaining to misdemeanor court dates; and process motions filed. High-stress and demanding position that requires acute attention to detail.


  • Attends court to record and type criminal minutes according to LA Code of Criminal Procedure
  • Attends 72-hour hearings and types corresponding minute entries
  • Receives and records filed evidence
  • Administers an oath to witnesses and jurors in court proceedings
  • Enters data, motions/filings pertaining to criminal cases into computer program
  • Drafts and processes correspondence
  • Provides copies to customers and other governmental agencies
  • Manages hard files and Court records
  • Answers inquiries from the public pertaining to all criminal cases
  • Prepares and issues notices to defendants and attorneys
  • Manages hard files and court records
  • Maintains communication between all agencies

Job Requirements

  • Ability to multi-task and establish priorities
  • Ability to promote a cooperative teamwork environment
  • Proficiency in word processing programs
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Must be able to commit to a 40-hour work week with the possibility of weekend overtime work
  • Typing/indexing skill of 45 words per minute with no errors
  • Two years of recent clerical experience
  • Must be a permanent resident of St. Tammany Parish
