About the Role

We’re looking for a detail-oriented Processor I to support plan participants by accurately processing benefit activities. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys structured work, values accuracy and confidentiality, and wants to build expertise in benefit administration.

As a Processor I, you’ll work closely with the Benefits team to review accounts, calculate benefits, and respond to service requests that directly impact members’ financial futures.

 Qualifications:

Previous experience with ASME Section VIII, Div. 1 and NBIC, Positive Material Identification and material receiving is desired.

Job Duties:

Watch the whey packaging line to make sure bags are sealing properly. If they need to be resealed, then pull the bag off the line and reseal it. 

Learn adjustments on the equipment to help reduce the amount of bags needed to be resealed.

Westaff is recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Engineer I who has performed code calculations (for pressure vessels or mechanical design, per ASME Section VIII code), and Compress software and CAD (computer aided design) experience.

BS in Mechanical Engineering or similar disciple a must (no PE required). $80K -110K DOE.

Essential Duties:

• Review customer specifications to gain a comprehensive understanding of the customers’ design criteria and schedule to determine proper design criteria. Interpret and apply design codes and standards to ensure design products conform to approved design criteria.
• Attend per-fabrication meetings with customers.
• Perform calculations using Compress and/or RCS to determine appropriate design and associated process from concept to fabrication.
• Prepare and release bill of materials as required by the project’s timeline.
• Coordinate with drafters to generate and review manufacturing drawings in compliance with applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, and company standards.
• Select proper weld procedures to be used in fabrication of heat exchanges. Welding engineer is available to assist in getting procedures approved for use.
• Facilitate customer reviews via the document control process.
• Coordinate with the project’s estimator to process change orders.
• Issue work order releases to the shop.
• Disposition Non-conformance’s and Engineering Change Requests.
• Evaluate mechanical systems and products by applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials.
• Support manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment or fixtures for fabricating, assembling, and installing components.
• Assure system and product quality by designing testing methods; testing finished product and system capabilities; confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes.
• Interface with both internal and external customers to provide engineering assistance.

Knowledge – Demonstrated working knowledge of design and fabrication of shell and tube heat exchange, pressure vessels or related custom engineered equipment. Possess working knowledge of ASME code, specifically section VIII and IX. Computer aided design knowledge. Fabrication knowledge / experience preferred.

Skills – Strong self-drive and sense of urgency is imperative. Excellent engineering skills including Materials and Statics is a per-requisite. Comprehension of technical specification & requirements is a must. Proven ability with higher math is essential. Possess good communications in both written and verbal form. Hold strong problem solving, organizational, and time management skills. Evidence of initiative to improve personal and interpersonal skills as well as ability to work effectively with all internal and external levels and groups is a must.

Primary Responsibilities:

Working both independently and with guidance from the Engineering / Tool Shop staff, will perform a wide variety of tasks requiring a degree of skill. Those tasks will include but are not limited to assembly and fabrication of trim dies, repair/maintenance of existing tools, assist with equipment and tool fabrication/upgrades as needed. Will work from prints and verbal instructions to machine tight tolerance tooling.

Normal Duties:

Assemble new tooling and dies from machined subcomponents.

Sharpen and troubleshoot trim tools to make sure they meet print requirements and cut consistently.

Following safe work practices, perform tight tolerance machining of tools using typical toolroom equipment such as lathes, mills and surface grinders.

Maintain associated paperwork to support quality systems.

Maintain reasonable stocks of tool steels and die sets to support business activities.

Work with Engineering to design and develop tooling and equipment upgrades to reduce costs, improve productivity or part manufacturability.

May be required to work with outside vendors and contractors.

May be required to assist with equipment installations and upgrades.

Other duties as assigned.

Normal Working Conditions:

Will be exposed to oils, coolants, greases, maintenance and production chemicals.

High temperatures, tight working spaces, changing priorities and time restraints will not be unusual.

Required Skills, Education and Experience:

Must have demonstrable knowledge of toolmaking and machining. This knowledge will include but not be limited to the safe operation of lathes, mills, surface grinders. Good shop math skills, ability to read blueprints and a good team player able to interface in a positive manner with co-workers, and work with a minimum of supervision. Must be able to read prints and sketches, understand tolerances and their effects on machining parts.
