Primary Responsibilities:

Working independently, will perform a wide variety of tasks requiring a high degree of skill. Those tasks will include but are not limited to, design and fabrication of trim dies, working from prints to machine tight tolerance tooling, repair/maintenance of existing tools, assist with equipment and tool fabrication/upgrades as needed.

Normal Duties:

Following safe work practices, perform tight tolerance machining of tools using typical toolroom equipment such as lathes, mills (manual and CNC) and surface grinders.

Must be capable working with solid models and of programming CNC machine centers.

Must be able to read prints and sketches, understand tolerances and their affects on machining parts.

Should be familiar with metallurgy; be able to assist in recommendations for tooling materials.

Must be familiar with secondary finishing operations such as heat treating and tempering and their affects on parts so as to take those operations into consideration when fabricating tooling.

Maintain associated paperwork to support ISO/TS-16949 initiative.

Maintain reasonable stocks of tool steels and die sets to support business activities.

Work with Engineering to design and develop tooling and equipment upgrades to reduce costs, improve productivity or part manufacturability.

May be required to work with outside vendors and contractors.

Other duties as assigned.

Normal Working Conditions:

Will be exposed to oils, coolants, greases, maintenance and production chemicals. High temperatures, tight working spaces and time restraints will not be unusual.

May be required to assist with equipment installations and upgrades.

Required Skills, Education and Experience:

Must have significant, demonstratable knowledge of toolmaking, machining and tool design. This knowledge will include but not be limited to the safe operation of, lathes, mills, surface grinders both manual and CNC versions thereof.

Should have a combination of education and experience as follows:

Completion of an accredited apprenticeship program and 3-5 years increasing experience in tool fabrication, or 2 year degree or certificate in tooling/machining from a recognized education organization and 5-7 years increasing experience or 8-10 years increasing experience in a toolroom environment.

Assists in the Set-up and operation of a Slitting Machine to produce a quality product in accordance with predetermined specifications and in accordance with predetermined production schedules by performing the following duties. Westaff has an immediate need for an experience Tool Room Clerk for the Ascension Parish area. Pay rate is depending on experience – $18-23 an hour, plus overtime. This is a temp to hire opportunity. 

Monday – Friday, 700am – 330pm, some weekends required. 

Must pass 10 panel drug screen prior to starting. 

Responsibilities:

• Tracking and ordering inventory of consumables and tools such as grinders, sanders, plugs, and other electrically or pneumatically operated tools, etc.
• Monitoring, maintaining, restocking inventory levels, and knowing when to reorder materials.
• Distributing proper consumables and tools to the appropriate team members.
• Conducting regular inventory checks to ensure the availability and accuracy of materials.
• Processing and handling purchase orders, coordinating with vendors to ensure timely delivery.
• Cleaning and organizing the tool room area.

 Qualifications:

• Prior experience in a quality control, fabrication or industrial environment is helpful, with a strong knowledge of consumables and pneumatic tools.
• Familiarity with the distribution and tracking of tools and consumables.
• Ability to manage purchasing processes, track inventory, and work with vendors to ensure timely supply replenishment.
• Reliable and punctual work ethic.
• Experience in an ASME environment is a plus.
• Good organizational skills, verbal and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail is a MUST.

First shift (7am), pay depending on experience. $16-19 an hour plus overtime. Must have steel toe shoes and industrial/ plant experience. Must have a basic tool box.

Overview: Assembly Mechanic assembles shell/ tube heat exchanger bundles and its sub components.

Job Duties:

• Layout and cutting of plates.
• Cutting and threading spacer tubes and round bar.
• Assembly of tie rods, spacers and baffles.
• Hang the stationary tube sheets, poke tubes into baffle assembly.
• Roll tubes placed into tube sheets and baffles.
• Install bundle into shell.
• Perform hydrostatic testing of assembled units.
• Load completed units onto flatbed trucks.
• Make tube hole ID records, hydro-test results and dimensional records of exchangers.
• Completing jobs based on standard shop procedures.
• Conforms to safety requirements of the shop.

Other duties as assigned.

Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, squat, twist and lift for entire shift. Some overtime may be required. Must be comfortable in a NON CLIMATE Controlled environment. Working conditions are noisy, dusty, dirty, gritty, hot/ cold. Steel toe boots, work pants and long sleeve shirt are required. Proof of current OSHA certification will be required at interview Valid Drivers License will be required at interview. NCCER Certification highly preferred. High School Diploma or equivalent. Read and write the English language; acceptable basic math skills; read and interpret simple measuring devises, read and interpret drawings.
