Westaff has an immediate opening for a motivated and experienced Production Assistant to support the Production Supervisor in overseeing daily operations within a very busy fabrication shop. This is a Direct Hire position.

Hourly: $45-52 depending on experience. Salary can be negotiated based on experience.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a fabrication environment and will be responsible for assisting in the coordination, training, and quality assurance of shop activities to ensure timely and accurate job completion. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist the Production Supervisor in planning, scheduling, and assigning daily job tasks to fabrication employees.
• Ensure that tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with specifications and quality standards.

Qualifications:

3-5 years of supervisory or leadership experience required in a fabrication or industrial manufacturing environment, preferably involving heavy fabrication or refinery equipment (tube sheets, heat exchangers, etc.)
Strong leadership skills with a focus on coaching, training, and supporting production staff to ensure skill development and task accuracy.
Strong knowledge of fabrication processes, including layout, welding, fit-up, and material handling; familiarity with welding processes such as TIG, MIG or Stick.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and job specifications.
Excellent organizational skills and communication skills.
Basic computer skills for timekeeping, job tracking, or production software; familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) preferred.
Knowledge of safety procedures and compliance in a shop setting.

Westaff has a temp opening for a Lab Assistant for a great company in Port Allen.

 Hours would be Tuesday – Friday 5am – 3:30pm. 

 This is not in the medical field.

Duties:

• Working in a quality lab setting as well as on the plant floor.
• Pulling samples from packaging lines, examining bags and comparing them to spec sheets, then performing multiple quality tests in the quality lab.
• Must have knowledge of technology – being able to use computers and ipads, and will need to be able to operate testing equipment – some of which involves mixing chemicals.
• Must be able to follow SOPs/work instructions on how to perform tests, follow all GMPs at all times, and communicate to the QA team of any out of spec results.
• Responsible for cleaning tasks in the lab and in the retain area on the plant floor.
