Cable Operator

Position Summary:
Perform set-up, changeovers and operation of cable machines, as part of a continuous operations process to manufacture insulated cable products.

Essential Functions/ Responsibilities:
• Responsible to meet production standards by performing quality checks in accordance with ISO quality procedures, following the process and manufacturing specification sheets
• Troubleshoot manufacturing process meeting production schedules and customer deadlines
• Responsible for machine set-up working with pay-off and take-up procedures, including installation and removal of a variety of reel sizes and closing dies
• Consistently run machine efficiently on a continuous line
• Responsible to properly tag reels, string wire break device, tape and drain wires
• Work with power switches, run controls, adjust speeds, tension settings, and voltage on sparker box
• Must complete written production paperwork neatly and legible
• Maintain cleanliness of machines
• Observes safety procedures and uses equipment and materials properly
• Subscribes to and practices 5S principles, procedures, and guidelines
• Work a full time shift schedule with regular attendance and ability to work overtime as needed

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Reading comprehension skills to understand written manufacturing specifications, process sheets and instructions and procedures in English
• Oral and written communication skills to exchange information with co-workers and supervisors
• Good math skills and above average mechanical aptitude necessary
• Attention to detail is required in machine operation to minimize scrap
• Familiar with cable and wire products and material
• Ability to enter data into a computerized system
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction
• Hands on experience and knowledge using micrometers, calipers, venires, and other measuring devices
• Read and interpret gauges, dials, equipment controls

Payrate:  $14.50+/hour depending on experience PLUS a shift differential

Shift:  3rd shift  Sun-Thurs   11pm-7am

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One-year manufacturing experience and skills with machinery equipment and troubleshooting desired
  • Cable and wire experience a plus
  • Must have visual acuity and ability to distinguish colors and pass a colorblind test to identify coded cables, products, and material
