Quality Technician

Location: Southwest Indianapolis, IN
Shifts and pay:

• 1st shift: $24 per hour | Monday–Friday, 5:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.

• 2nd shift: $26 per hour | 3:30 p.m.–2:00 a.m.

Westaff is hiring Quality Technicians for a manufacturing client in Southwest Indianapolis. This position involves advanced dimensional inspection, CMM operation, PPAP documentation, and quality problem resolution.

If you have experience reading manufacturing drawings, applying GD&T, and using precision measuring tools, this role puts those skills to work inspecting complex components and assemblies and helping resolve production quality issues.

Job Responsibilities

• Inspect components, assemblies, fixtures, and finished products against drawings and customer requirements.

• Use micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, height gauges, go/no-go gauges, surface plates, and other inspection tools.

• Operate a coordinate measuring machine (CMM) to inspect complex parts, assemblies, and fixtures.

• Perform advanced layout and final assembly inspections.

• Collect accurate inspection data and prepare information for Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions.

• Communicate with customer quality staff as needed to support part approvals and meet deadlines.

• Investigate quality issues, recommend corrective actions, and help lead problem resolution.

• Assist with tool calibration and accurately document results.

• Support product-line quality, new product launches, customer certifications, and ISO training as assigned.

• Train others in building and using fixtures for advanced assembly inspection.

• Apply GD&T, shop math, and trigonometry to determine dimensions, angles, and tolerances.

Qualifications

• Five years of experience using precision measuring tools to inspect components.

• Five years of experience reading manufacturing drawings and sketches, including weld symbols and GD&T.

• Five years of shop math experience, including standard-to-metric conversions, fractions and decimals, and tolerance calculations.

• Familiarity with basic trigonometry.

• High school diploma or equivalent, plus quality control training through school or on-the-job experience.

• Ability to pass the required setup test.

• Tube or sheet metal fabrication and inspection experience preferred.
