Job Opening: Lead Tool Engineer
Description
A leader in precision steel pipe fittings, is seeking a Lead Tooling Engineer to own and lead our tooling function. This hands-on leadership role manages tooling projects from design through production and serves as the technical authority on tooling performance.
Responsibilities:
- Design tooling (dies, punches, mandrels) using CAD (Inventor preferred)
- Troubleshoot tooling issues and improve performance
- Support production, safety, and custom order feasibility
- Manage vendors, tooling lifecycle, and continuous improvement efforts
Qualifications:
- Engineering degree or equivalent experience
- 5+ years in tooling design (forging, stamping, or heavy manufacturing)
- Strong CAD, GD&T, and material/heat treatment knowledge
- Ability to work in a shop-floor environment
Preferred: Experience with pipe fittings, ASME/ASTM standards, CNC/CAM, or 3D scanning
