Accounting Specialist

Location: Alexandria, LA

Schedule: Full-Time, On-Site (Mon–Fri, 8 AM–5 PM)

Pay: $45-60k yearly/ Depending on experience

Role Summary

We’re seeking a detail-driven Accounting Specialist to support financial operations in a fast-paced insurance environment. This role focuses on accounts payable, carrier account current processing, and surplus lines tax reporting. Accuracy, organization, and strong communication are key.

Key Responsibilities

• Process vendor invoices and manage weekly/monthly payment runs

• Reconcile vendor and carrier statements and resolve discrepancies

• Maintain vendor records and respond to inquiries

• Process carrier account current payments and monitor payable aging

• Prepare surplus lines tax filings and ensure regulatory compliance

• Support audits and maintain documentation

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; Associate’s/Bachelor’s in Business or Finance preferred

• 3–7 years in accounts payable or insurance accounting

• Experience in an insurance agency, brokerage, MGA/MGU, or carrier environment preferred

Skills

• Knowledge of insurance accounting and surplus lines regulations

• Strong reconciliation and analytical abilities

• Advanced Excel skills

• Experience with systems like Nexsure, AIM, AMS360, Vertafore, or Applied Epic

• Excellent communication and time-management skills
