CNC Mill Machinist (Setup & Programming)
Coon Rapids, MN 55433
Hours: 1st shift – 6:30 AM–4:30 PM (Monday–Thursday) & Friday 6:30 AM start
Seeking an experienced CNC Mill Machinist capable of fully independent setup, programming, and production. This role is ideal for someone who takes ownership, solves problems on the fly, and contributes to continuous improvement in a fast-paced job-shop environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform complete CNC mill setups independently
- Program, edit, and optimize using Mastercam
- Take jobs from print → program → setup → production
- Read and interpret prints with tight tolerances and GD&T
- Select tooling, speeds/feeds, and machining strategies
- Prove out jobs and ensure repeatability and efficiency
- Troubleshoot machining and quality issues
- Conduct in-process and final inspections
Process & Leadership Expectations
- Identify and implement process improvements
- Reduce cycle times and improve tooling performance
- Help develop setup sheets and standardized procedures
- Mentor less experienced machinists
- Support overall shop efficiency and throughput
Qualifications
- 3–7+ years CNC milling experience
- Strong Mastercam programming skills (required)
- Proven ability to perform independent setups
- Solid understanding of tooling, materials, and machining strategy
- Ability to read prints and apply GD&T
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
- Organized, self-driven, and accountable
