Westaff Hiring Molding Machine Operator for Rubber Manufacturer in Portland, CT!
In this role, candidates are responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining molding equipment to produce precision-molded components.
Hours: 2nd shift, 2pm-10:30pm Mon-Fri
Payrate: $19-20/hr (based on experience)
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate molding machines (e.g., compression, transfer, or injection molding) in accordance with production specifications
- Load compounds or preforms into molds, monitor the curing process, and safely remove finished parts
- Inspect parts for surface defects, flash, or dimensional accuracy using measuring tools and visual checks
- Trim excess material (de-flashing) and perform secondary operations as needed
- Collaborate with quality control and maintenance teams to resolve issues and improve processes
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 1+ year of experience in rubber molding or a similar manufacturing environment preferred
- Familiarity with compression, transfer, or injection rubber molding processes
- Comfortable working in a hot, industrial environment with exposure to rubber odors and chemicals
- Ability to stand, lift up to 50 lbs, bend, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift
Work Environment:
- High temperatures and exposure to curing ovens or presses
- Use of PPE including gloves, safety glasses, and ear protection required
