$16.00/hr – $18.00/hr DOE
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Physical involvement includes bending, stooping, walking, and lifting up to 50#s (greater with assistance);
• Work is occasionally performed in undesirable physical conditions and rough terrain in which pollution and heat are encountered. Exposure to chemicals is frequent.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule of early mornings or late evenings, and some days.
• Must possess a valid Montana Driver’s License.
MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY AND PERFORMANCE:
• Performs tasks related to the spraying of weeds and mosquitos and in the use of chemicals;
• Calibrates spray equipment;
• Performs minor repairs and maintenance to equipment and vehicles;
• Maintains accurate Daily Application Records of pesticides used, work performed, and coordinates with the Coordinator daily; Keeps accurate records of the weather and susceptible crops in the area worked;
• Knows and follows all safety procedures in the use of vehicles, equipment, and chemicals.
• Initiates routine daily operational records and reports;
• Is responsible for equipment and supplies assigned;
• Requires contact with the public and other County departments;
• Some hazards with chemicals, and duties may require work to be occasionally performed in undesirable weather conditions.
• Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
• Graduation from high school or its equivalent; PLUS
• Some work experience. Farm background helpful, or previous spraying experience helpful.
• Must possess a valid Montana Driver’s License and be qualified to be a licensed Applicator under the Weed and Mosquito Coordinator’s Pesticide Licenses, or able to obtain such a license before the season begins.
Broadwater County is soliciting qualified applicants to fill the position of seasonal weed/mosquito sprayers. This is a short term position working 32-40 hours per week for the season. The wage is $16-$18/hr+., DOE. Applicants must have a valid Montana Driver’s License and be able to pass a background check.
