Position Overview

We are currently seeking a skilled Manual Machinist to join our team on 2nd shift. This position will start directly on second shift and is ideal for someone with hands-on machining experience who takes pride in precision and quality workmanship.

Manual Machinist Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate cut-off saws following sheets, cut sheets, or verbal instructions. 

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions

  • Select the appropriate extrusion from storage and position it on the saw table for cutting. 

  • Activate machines to cut various aluminum parts, making necessary adjustments for depth of cuts and setting machines to automatic cycles. 

  • remove finished assemblies to designated areas and prepare them for shipment as required. 
  • Clean and lubricate machines regularly, maintaining oil or coolant levels.

  • Physically inspects processing to ensure quality of product.
  • May be required to perform general utility work, material handling, assist with chemical handling and solution maintenance, and record keeping as needed.
  • May be asked to troubleshoot simple to moderate problems.

  • Performs other duties as required.

  • Loads and unloads tote pans of parts, stacks parts in baskets, racks and/or barrels, racks, unracks, cleans, etches, desmuts, pickles, bright –dips dyes, degreases, heat treats, plates, coats, wet processes, and dries parts. Uses electric hoists and manual lifting.
  • Following prescribed procedures for processing.
  • Fills baskets, racks, and/or barrels with parts to be processed and lowers material into the appropriate tank.
  • Removes parts when the process is completed.
  • Maintains the cleanliness of tanks and work areas.
  • Monitors temperature of solutions.
  • Maintains daily production logs.
  • Physically inspects processing to ensure quality of product.
  • May be required to perform general utility work, material handling, assist with chemical handling and solution maintenance, and record keeping as needed.
  • May be asked to troubleshoot simple to moderate problems.
  • Is responsible for the quality of the product produced.
  • Performs other duties as required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school or general education degree (GED); or equivalent months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate and percent.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Must have a basic understanding of chemistry as it applies to the job, and the ability to solve problems.
