Westaff Hiring Maintenance Helper for Metal Manufacturer in Wallingford! 

The Maintenance Helper will support maintenance technicians and production teams by assisting with equipment repairs, preventive maintenance, and general facility upkeep. This role works closely with machinery used in metal fabrication, stamping, cutting, forming, and finishing.

Hours: 2nd shift, 3pm-11:30pm M-F
Pay: $20/hr+ (based on experience level)

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist maintenance technicians with troubleshooting and repairing metal fabrication equipment such as presses, stamping machines, CNC machines, welders, conveyors, and material-handling systems

• Support preventive maintenance tasks including lubrication, filter changes, belt adjustments, and basic mechanical checks

• Help set up work areas, gather tools, and prepare parts for repair or installation

• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, grinders, drills, and basic shop equipment

• Assist with equipment inspections to identify wear, leaks, unusual noises, or safety hazards

• Move, lift, and position heavy parts or materials using pallet jacks, hoists, or carts

• Follow all safety procedures including PPE requirements, lockout/tagout, and machine guarding standards

• Support production teams during equipment downtime or changeovers

Skills & Qualifications

• Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with industrial tools and equipment

• Ability to follow instructions and work alongside experienced maintenance technicians

• Understanding of manufacturing safety practices, especially around heavy machinery

• Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn advanced maintenance skills

• Physical ability to lift, bend, climb, and work in hot, noisy, or fast-paced environments

• Experience in metal manufacturing, machine operation, or industrial maintenance is a plus
