Build Data Pipelines. Avoid Actual Traffic. Westaff is on the hunt for a Data Engineer for a state office in Helena, MT with an option of working remotely!
Pay: $40.09/hour
Schedule: Flexible Full-time, At least 8 hours a day, Monday through Friday
Term: 6 months, potential for permanent position for right fit!
What You Will Do:
- Manages the collection, management, and storage of data across the department. Enhances and maximizes the quality, integrity, reliability, and access to data assets.
- Designs and implements modern application and data architecture focusing on cloud platforms, best-of-breed solutions, and components.
- Builds data pipelines to bring together information from different source systems and creates the required infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from multiple sources.
- Where applicable, enable data sharing and interoperable data exchange with other state agencies and external partners/providers.
- Oversees all stages of data onboarding, transformation, and enablement.
- Assembles extensive, complex data sets that meet non-functional and functional business requirements.
- Collaborates with divisions and programs to collect, prepare, organize, and protect the department’s data assets. Implements and enforces data privacy policies to comply with regulations.
- Facilitate collecting and validating data to ingest into the department’s data asset catalog solution.
- Provides data models and engages in data modeling efforts as needed.
- Delivers high-quality, uniform data to support analytics. Improves and streamlines access to data to drive innovation and outcomes.
- Prepares data for analytical and operational uses. Integrates, consolidates, and cleanses data and structures it for analytics applications.
- Enhances and maximizes the quality, integrity, and reliability of data assets. Expands the effective utilization of data through improved usability and accessibility of IT systems.
- Enables data sharing and access across the department. Seeks opportunities to eliminate data redundancies, improve data quality, and provide exceptional data services to the department.
- Assembles large, complex data sets that meet the Office of Research and Performance Analysis (ORPA) business requirements.
What You Will Bring:
- 3-5 years’ experience in data analytics, computer science, information technology, or related field. A bachelor’s degree in data sciences is desirable. Combinations of experience and education will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- Skills in database design, data security, and data lifecycle management (i.e., gathering, cleansing, publishing, archiving, back-up and recovery, and purging) for large enterprise systems.
- Familiarity with master data, metadata, reference data, data warehousing, database structure, business intelligence principles and processes, and technical architecture.
- Knowledge of database management systems, metadata management tools, cloud storage, and associated security considerations.
- Experience in data warehousing and governance.
- Practical experience in enabling data usability, availability, and efficiency.
- Experience in data management, quality, metadata management, and modeling.
- Experience with PowerShell.
- Technologies that the candidate must be fluent in:
- SQL, Oracle, Snowflake, Fivetran, Python, DBT, Gitlab/Github, PowerBI, Tableau, Thoughtspot.
