Summary The CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and programming CNC machines to produce precision components according to engineering drawings and specifications. This role ensures high-quality machining, proper machine operation, and adherence to safety and quality standards. Strong technical skills, mechanical aptitude, and attention to detail are essential. Key Responsibilities Machine Setup & Operation Set up CNC mills, lathes, or other machines by installing tooling, fixtures, and materials. Operate CNC machinery to produce parts to exact specifications. Load programs, set offsets, adjust tool heights, and make necessary adjustments during production. Monitor machine operations to detect and correct malfunctions. Programming & Adjustments Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and G-code. Modify CNC programs as needed to improve accuracy or efficiency. Collaborate with engineers or programmers on complex setups and program changes. Quality Control Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision instruments. Verify that components meet dimensional tolerances and surface finish requirements. Document measurements and report any defects or deviations. Maintenance & Safety Perform routine machine maintenance such as cleaning, lubrication, and basic troubleshooting. Keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety and 5S standards. Follow all company and OSHA safety regulations. Production Workflow Review job travelers, work orders, and production schedules to prioritize tasks. Maintain accurate production logs and documentation. Collaborate with supervisors and team members to meet production goals.
