Job Opening: Molding Machine Operator
Description
Westaff Hiring Molding Machine Operators for Rubber Manufacturer in Portland, CT!
In this role, candidates are responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining molding equipment to produce precision-molded components. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail and experience working in a manufacturing setting.
Hours: 6am-2:30pm, M-F (optional OT available!)
Payrate: $18-21/hr (based on experience)
Key Responsibilities:

Set up and operate molding machines (e.g., compression, transfer, or injection molding) in accordance with production specifications

Load compounds or preforms into molds, monitor the curing process, and safely remove finished parts

Inspect parts for surface defects, flash, or dimensional accuracy using measuring tools and visual checks

Trim excess material (de-flashing) and perform secondary operations as needed

Perform routine maintenance checks and minor repairs or adjustments on machines

Adhere to all safety policies and report any unsafe conditions immediately

Collaborate with quality control and maintenance teams to resolve issues and improve processes
Qualifications:
-
High school diploma or equivalent required

1+ year of experience in rubber molding or a similar manufacturing environment preferred

Familiarity with compression, transfer, or injection rubber molding processes

Ability to read and follow work instructions, technical specifications, and safety guidelines

Basic mechanical skills and troubleshooting ability

Comfortable working in a hot, industrial environment with exposure to rubber odors and chemicals

Ability to stand, lift up to 50 lbs, bend, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift
Work Environment:

High temperatures and exposure to curing ovens or presses

Use of PPE including gloves, safety glasses, and ear protection required
