Job Opening: Tool & Die Maker for Fourslide
Description
Westaff is Hiring for a 2nd shift Tool & Die Maker for Fourslide in Farmington, CT!
Pay: $35 – $45 an hour, depending on experience
Shift: Monday – Friday, 2:30pm – 11:00pm
Tool and Die Maker Responsibilities:

Perform setup and maintenance of tooling, including first-piece quality submissions.

Accurately document tooling history and setup information, following established processes (e.g., Brown Card reference system).

Notify supervisor promptly when machine or tooling maintenance is required on production equipment.

Fabricate tools, components, fixtures, and gauges as directed by area supervisor or technical lead.

Work closely with the New Tool Group during the introduction of new tools into production.

Support the standardization of tooling component inventory and assist in developing tooling/project cost estimates as needed.

Provide hands-on support to department setup associates in resolving tool setup and production issues.

Assist managers as required on metal stamping and four-slide tooling projects.

Identify and report necessary updates or corrections to job travelers for operational changes.

Contribute to the training and mentoring of apprentices in tool setup and maintenance practices.
Tool and Die Maker Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in tooling fabrication, troubleshooting, and repair.

Strong background in production setup and troubleshooting of four-slide equipment (e.g., Nielson, BIHLER).

Certified Journeyperson with completed Connecticut-approved apprenticeship.

Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).

Solid working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) in a production environment.

Proven experience in progressive stamping operations.

Familiar with ISO quality standards, with practical implementation in medical (ISO 13485) and aerospace (AS9100) manufacturing environments.

Understanding of Manufacturing and Quality Engineering principles.

Knowledgeable in Lean Manufacturing practices, including Kaizen, Kanban, SMED, 5S, and other continuous improvement tools.

Familiar with Concurrent Engineering and Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA).

Experienced with production standards, cost of quality, and modern manufacturing methods.

A self-starter with a strong work ethic and a clear focus on production efficiency and quality output.
