Carter County is seeking a County Health Nurse! Apply Externally (see below)
Schedule: PRN (As Needed Position) max of 8 hours/week
Term: Permanent
Pay: $35-$40 DOE
Start Date: Sept 15, 2025
Duties:
-
The purpose of this nursing position is to assist the Public Health Department in all programs/tasks and Events on/offsite as needed/requested by department staff.

It is preferred for Nurse to have an interest in the Tobacco Prevention Program to complete training, events, and outreach as required by program.
-
Preferred for Nurse to be familiar with immunization schedule and recommendations to provide/give immunization and assistance to all ages, outreach events, and assist with billing services.

Preferred but not required for Nurse to be familiar with communicable disease testing/outreach/teaching/state charting- on job training provided.

Preferred but not required for Nurse to be familiar with the Women Infant and Children program to assist when needed- on job/ state training is required for this program.

Assist with other office duties/programs as they arise
Qualifications:

Physical Requirements:

Standing/Walking: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, potentially throughout an entire working day.

Lifting/Carrying: Ability to lift and/or carry objects of a specific weight; up to 50 pounds and frequency occasionally. This may include assisting patients when needed.

Bending/Stooping/Reaching: Ability to bend, stoop, reach overhead or below, and maintain flexibility to perform tasks such as assisting patients, accessing supplies, or working with equipment.

Manual Dexterity: Sufficient manual dexterity for tasks like performing procedures, using medical equipment, or handling instruments. This can include both fine motor skills (using fingers for tasks like touching, picking, or pinching) and gross motor skills (grasping, holding, or turning large objects).

Repetitive Motions: Some roles may involve repetitive motions, such as keying data into a computer or performing specific tasks during procedures.

Vision/Hearing: Visual acuity and hearing adequate to perform job duties, including visual examination of patients, reading medical information, and communicating with patients and staff.
