Job Description:

  • Primarily responsible for exercising safe driving practices ensuring the safety of the public.  Responsible for operating commercial motor vehicle transporting AC/DC Motors and Generators to and from customer sites.
  • Responsible for compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) safety rules and regulations; and all company policies; and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Comply with all Department of Transportation regulations.
  • Perform and document pre-trip inspections (i.e. tires, oil, fuel, lights, breaks, hoses etc.)
  • Assist with loading and unloading trailer as necessary.
  • Ensure secure load before movement.
  • Maintain proper documentation (i.e. equipment, time, trips, weight, etc.)
  • Clean and wash truck as necessary.
  • Report truck and equipment maintenance issues to supervisor.
  • Comply with all DOT safety rules and regulations, all company policies, and local state and federal policies, laws and regulations
  • All other duties assigned.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Valid Class A CDL with 3 years verifiable satisfactory driving record.
  • Knowledge of DOT, State and Federal Laws.
  • Ability to read and write legibly
  • Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivate.
  • Maintain pro-active and open communication with all team members.
  • DOT Physical Examination and Medical Card Required.
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVVR) and Driver History Report.
  • Effectively see maps and directions for efficient and compliant routing.
  • Responsible for proper loading and securing load and securing to prevent movement and ensure safe transport.  Assist in loading/unloading as required.

 

Working conditions

This position will have varying working condition, as some days will entail driving only jobs and others will require working in the shop.  Inclement weather maybe a factor as well as other unforeseen working conditions.  The potential exists to operate the vehicle in a variety of surroundings, including city, highway and gravel roads for extended distances between destinations.
