Schedule:  M-F, 8-5

Pay:  $12-$25 Dependent on Experience

Duties:

  • Responsible for general maintenance, upkeep, repairs, and improvements of Helena Indian Alliance properties.
  • Maintain a regular daily schedule to ensure all work areas are cleaned, maintain HIA grounds in a neat, attractive manner and provide timely repairs.
  • Maintain all Helena Indian Alliance administration and clinic offices by:
    1. Make adjustments and minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, and electrical systems.
    2. Steam clean or shampoo carpets
    3. Strip, seal, finish and polish floors.
  • Performs the following work activities of the Helena Indian Alliance in:
    1. Handling and moving objects – using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.
    2. Performing general physical activities – performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your entire body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
    3. Repairing and maintaining mechanical equipment – servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of mechanical (not electronic) principles.
    4. Controlling machines and processes – Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes (not including computers or vehicles).
  • Responsible for main electrical, plumbing and roofing issues.
  • Provide backup for transportation or errands.
  • Assists administration with planning for upkeep, repairs, or improvements to property.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable fire code standards, city codes and keep storage spaces free of unnecessary debris or waste. 
  • Attend regular staff meetings. 
  • Assist administration with volunteers that are on the property 
  • Other duties pertinent to HIA maintenance as assigned by direct supervisor

Qualifications:

  • Equipment maintenance – Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
  • Repairing machines or systems using the necessary tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and determine causes of operation errors and deciding the course of action for repair.
  • Must know Excel, Outlook. Emails, Microsoft Word and Publisher. 
  • Strong communication skills and teamwork.
  • Must be able to have a flexible schedule for on-call situations.
  • Must be able to have assist with events during weekends and or after-hours.   

Education/Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.  Two years’ experience in maintenance work and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Must have valid driver’s license.
