Westaff has an opening for a CNC Supervisor with a company in Thomaston, CT

 

Salary Approximately $95,000/year

This is a Full time Permanent position

Position Summary:

The CNC Supervisor position requires 5 Axis machining experience with a minimum of five (5) years supervisory experience with programming, setup and operation of a multi axis CNC machines. The Supervisor will manage the organization, safety and maintenance of the machine shop. This will include setup and operation of multi axis CNC machines.

Essential Functions

  • Hands on work on manufacturing floor with staff of 6-8 people
  • Set up and operation of 5 axis mill-turn with integrated grinding
  • Set up and operation of 5 axis mill-turn with integrated grinding
    • Ability to read 2D blueprints/drawings with ASME Y14.5 GD&T
    • Maximizing machine uptime, efficiency, and quality to exceed goal of 90% OEE
    • Develop and maintain tool data sheets
      • Proficient at tool presetting, experience with an automated pre-setter is preferred
    • CNC program editing on Fanuc and Siemens controls; conversational programming
    • Designing and manufacturing modular work holdings and fixtures
    • Provide feedback to programmer and engineering staff to update programs and documentation
  • Maintaining of equipment including:
    • Reporting of necessary repairs
    • Trouble shooting
    • Tooling and Fixtures
  • Ability to work with a variety of materials primarily nodular iron with a 10% mix of steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
    • Fixturing castings and large work pieces in a high mix, low volume environment

 

Job Requirements

Experience/Skills:

  • Supervisory experience
  • 5+ years CNC Operator experience
  • 5 Axis Machining Certified classes preferred
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances Per ASME Y14.5
  • Experience with inspection and metrology tools including micrometers, calipers, and optical comparators.
  • Ability to work tolerances to +/- .0001
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software Solidworks and MasterCAM preferred
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently to production schedule
  • Must be U.S. Citizen due to  government contracts
  • Preferred working knowledge with ERP/MES Systems - Infor Visual ERP and DMG Mori CELOS preferred

 

Job Qualifications

Education / Certification

  • High School/GED or Associates degree in a technical field is preferred
  • At least 5 years of experience in CNC, manual, and applied machining technologies

Physical & Environmental Requirements

  • Job requires standing - some of the work can be done while seated. Since overhead cranes are available in all work areas, Technicians are not required to lift more than 50 pounds.
  • Keeps work area clean and free of scrap materials.
  • Wears and complies with all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) applicable to work area, including but not limited to eye protection and safety shoes.
  • Follows all safety rules applicable to machine as stated on posted signs and in Company policy.
