Sanitation Associate

OBJECTIVE: Sanitation team associate will participate in facility and equipment cleaning, sanitation processes, programs and documentation by the sanitation team to ensure compliance with regulatory, food safety and environmental laws are met; implements safety, sanitation and continuous improvement programs and ensure that the facility is maintained at SQF level of cleanliness and within the guidelines of all GMP’s and regulatory food safety guidelines. Encourage and empower all associates to initiate and record instances that require corrective actions.

 

TASKS PERFORMED:

  • Carries out the day to day cleaning and duties of the sanitation department.
  • Use water, chemicals, and sanitizer to clean and sanitize equipment and production rooms daily
  • Detailed sanitation and up-keep of the facility along with ensuring that all processing equipment is properly cleaned and sanitized to establish standards to process food products
  • Sweep and squeegee floors
  • Clean equipment and machinery
  • Identify and report to Management food safety and food quality issues
  • Report all food safety issues to an immediate supervisor
  • Follow all OSHA safety guidelines required by company
  • Comply with GMP and Food safety guidelines
  • Perform all other tasks as requested by plant/floor supervision
  • Work within a cold and wet environment and wear specified company provided protective gear at all times
  • Meets daily with Sanitation Manager for tasks, priorities and strategy.
  • Adheres to employee break rotation schedules to ensure shift activity completion.
  • Adheres to written safety program, trains employees in proper safety methods, collects necessary safety data as needed.
  • Wears all necessary personal protective equipment required for each task.
  • Participates in required pre-op inspections to ensure equipment and facility is clean prior to start of operations
  • Ensures the cleanliness of the plant exterior (associate entrance, docks, dumpster areas, associate break area) and assuring trash is emptied on a timely basis
  • Communicates the inventory of cleaning chemicals and cleaning tools to ensure adequate supplies of these are always available at all times
  • Participates in the housekeeping and cleanliness of facility restrooms, break rooms and common areas
  • Participates in tasks and duties as outlined in the Master Sanitation schedule are completed efficiently by sanitation team
  • Assist in ensuring that the SQF system is in place and operating sustainably and that we are in compliance with all aspects of HACCP plan, SSOPs, and GMPs throughout the plant
  • Collaborates with plant leadership to ensure compliance as a USDA facility by ensuring guidelines are followed daily throughout the plant
  • Collaborates with plant leadership to ensure proper and safe use of sanitation equipment, chemicals and procedures Observes SSOP’s of MSDS sheets in the MSDS book for chemicals used in daily work by team
  • Properly separates food-waste, and trash and places them in their designated barrels.
  • Operates chemical/sanitizer foam units properly.
  • Operates power jacks properly.
  • Adheres to all company employment practices, procedures and policies.
  • Asks for advice from operations/sanitation manager when unsure of correct procedure for completing assigned task.

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NECESSARY TO PERFORM JOB TASKS:

  • High School diploma, equivalency diploma, or 2 years experience in the food manufacturing industry.
  • Familiarity with applicable USDA and FDA regulations as they apply to sanitation and employee practices.
  • Understand company Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point plans.
  • Understand basic operational and preventive machine maintenance.
  • Ability to lift 25-50 pounds
  • Operate complex production equipment and understand the level of protection needed during the production process to ensure proper safety levels.

  • Possess normal to excellent manual dexterity and motor skills.
  • Possessing good eye-hand coordination.
  • Possessing excellent listening and comprehension skills
  • Must possess good interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work independently.

Payrate:  $13.50-15.00/hour depending on experience     Westaff pays every Friday!

Shift:   2nd shift    Monday-Friday    5pm-1am or until the job is complete
