This is a Full Time position

HR Generalist Objective:

The human resource generalist is responsible for performing the day to day operations of human resources functions and duties on a professional level and works closely with HR Management.  The HR Generalist carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: Employment Law, Payroll, Recruitment and Onboarding, HRIS, Employee Relations, Benefits, and Workers Compensation. 

Essential Functions:

Establishes, maintains and updates appropriate documentation and files regarding FMLA, FLSA, Worker's Comp, I-9 reporting, pension/benefit records, and unemployment administration.

Weekly payroll preparation in ADP.  Assists employees and managers with pay discrepancies.  Receives, sorts and distributes paychecks.  Administers the performance evaluation program and revises compensation as necessary.

Posts job openings, reviews/screens resumes, schedules interviews, processes pre-employment tests, completes reference checks, drafts offer letters, conducts background checks, and arranges for temporary employees.  Conducts new hire orientations and continues communication activities with each employee hired.

In charge of documentation pertaining to hiring, terminating, employee change status, compensation, benefits and other employee information required in the HRIS system.

Assists employees/managers with questions or issues; maintains accurate personnel and other human resources files.  Administers various human resource plans and procedures for company personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures

Performs benefits administration to include participation in annual open enrollment, new hire enrollment, claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment and communicating benefit information to employees.

Reports work-related illnesses/injuries to workers' compensation insurance carrier; coordinate related issues with Management.  Follow procedures for work-related injury care and transportation.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate will have at least 4 years of HR experience as a Generalist.

Computer skills and the ability to use the HRIS system (ADP a must). Must be proficient in Microsoft Office

 

Candidates must have proven experience with employment law including compliance with FMLA, FLSA, workers compensation, I-9 reporting, pension/benefit records and unemployment administration.

Practical Knowledge of HR principles and employment law as represented by 5+ years of HR experience (Bachelor’s degree or PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred)

Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills essential

Experience supporting multiple business units within a manufacturing environment desired but not required

Proven ability to work independently

Exceptional organizational and time management skills with proven ability to multi-task in a high-energy environment

Experience handling sensitive material and maintaining confidentiality

Ability to develop strong trusting relationships in order to gain support and achieve results

Ability to travel as required to perform responsibilities

A team player with a positive attitude, who is customer focused and operates with a collaborative approach.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
