Position: Design/Mechanical Engineer
Reports to: Engineering Manager Compensation: Salary
Develops new designs and products for the industry. Acts as the primary technical interface during the development, manufacture, and documentation of shafts and chucks.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Communicates with customers regarding order requirements and specifications
Produces engineered customer approval and component drawings, technical reports, and all documentation required to manufacture shafts using standard engineering practices and procedures.
Communicates with, and develops drawings for, outside suppliers concerning components for shaft manufacture.
Coordinates product prototyping, testing, validation, and transition to manufacture.
Measures and sketches shafts and components, using standard engineering practices.
Reviews and approves supplier component and assembly drawings.
Reviews and approves customer approval and drawings.
Provides technical assistance and support to customer contacts, sales representatives, manufacturing personnel, and engineering
Analyzes failed and improperly performing shafts and determines methods to repair or resolve performance issues.
Manages, updates, and revises drawing files per manufacturing and engineering feedback. Implements and documents ongoing design improvements.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:
Must possess significant experience using AutoCAD Strong accuracy and attention to detail.
Strong understanding of design for manufacturability and standard machining practices..
Above average mechanical aptitude and excellent problem solving skills.
Proficiency in personal computer hardware and software including AutoCAD, Windows, and Microsoft omce.
Experience with mechanical drawings and ANSI drawing practices applicable to the printing and converting industry.
Must be organized, detail oriented, a self-starter, able to remain focused under pressure, and be able to handle and prioritize multiple assignments.
Familiar with prototyping, test fixture assemblies, and measurement devices.
Must be able to work independently and within a multinational team environment. BSME or equivalent experience
