STATEMENT OF DUTIES: This position is responsible for doing everything necessary to maintain appropriate patient volume, patient flow, patient satisfaction and doctor satisfaction. Maintains a timely greeting, registration and flow of patients to physicians. Works as part of a team supporting patient incoming, outgoing, telephone, medical records, etc.


  • • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • • Highly prefer one year of office experience in a medical office. Will consider other combinations of work experience and settings.

Job Requirements

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: (All front office staff will perform all of these duties from time to time for the main office and satellite locations.)

  • Fulfills any general front office responsibilities to insure efficient patient flow and office efficiency.
  • Registers patients by gathering, verifying and entering demographic and insurance information.
  • Obtains signed registration sheets, permissions to file claims, releases, etc.
  • Reviews schedules for referrals needed, obtains those that the office takes responsibility for and works with patients to obtain others.
  • Collects co-payments and personal payments.
  • Prepares day sheet and balances cash drawer each day.
  • Handles inquiries about insurances, office hours, services, locations, exam fees, doctor information, etc.
  • Verifies upcoming appointments.
  • Greets patients promptly and professionally.
  • Properly triages patients and visitors.
  • Responds easily to routine requests for information.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times and communicates with the supervisor regarding procedural changes and concerns.
  • Participates in professional development efforts to remain current on insurance coverages and regulation matters.
  • Issues proper receipts and maintains balanced drawer.
  • Answers telephones, screens calls, takes messages and provides information.
  • Enters into computer new/updated information for hospital consults and companies.
  • Files charts, reports, etc. as needed.
  • Maintains a clean, safe and prepared work/reception area
  • Trains new employees for incoming duties.
  • Timely puts away supplies as they are delivered to the facility.
  • Keeps supervisor informed about efficiency issues, patient satisfaction issues and doctor issues.
  • Maintains supply of sign in, charge slips, etc.
  • Represents practice at community events, screenings, etc. as needed.
  • Places outbound telephone calls to schedule patients as needed.
  • Performs other duties as requested.
