Job Opening: Manual Lathe Operator
Description
Aerospace Manufacturer in Wallingford, CT is looking for a Manual Lathe Operator ASAP!
Hours: 1st shift 6am-3:30pm Mon- Thurs & 6am-10am Fridays
Pay starting at $18/hr.
The Manual Lathe Operator will work under the Lead Seal Manufacturing Supervisor to mainly operate and run a tool room lathe using roll forming concepts in order to properly manufacture parts utilizing a hand held deburr tool and pi tape for measuring tolerances.
Manual Lathe Operator Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate manual lathes
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Measure and inspect parts
- Perform various lathe operations including turning, facing, drilling, reaming, knurling, and cutting to create a variety of shapes and features on cylindrical parts
- Maintain and troubleshoot lathes
- Adhere to safety protocols
- Work with various materials like metals (steel, aluminum, brass), wood, plastics, and sometimes glass
Manual Lathe Operator Requirements:
- Knowledge of Manual Lathe
- Knowledge of calipers/verniers, pi tapes, micrometers, drop indicators
- Knowledge of blueprints required
- Must work 40 hours a week but be flexible (as overtime may be required)
- Have a willingness to learn with proper training
- Pay close attention to detail and tolerances
- Be able to work without supervision machining parts
- Ability to read travelers to punch in/out of jobs
- Must be able to read and write English
- Must have U.S. Citizenship (per Aerospace policies)
