WALNUT CREEK, Calif., April 9, 2007 - Chicago-area business leaders gathered last Monday evening at the Doubletree Hotel Chicago/ Oak Brook for the first 2007 installment of Westaff, Inc.'s (NASDAQ:WSTF), signature leadership and networking series, The Westaff Forum. In addition to donating $2,500 to YWCA Metropolitan Chicago, the Forum offered many of Chicago's best and brightest the opportunity to network and hear noted Chicago-area business leader Cheryl Francis speak.
"At Westaff, we recognize people are at the heart of what we do. Strong relationships with our employees, candidates and the business communities we service are critical to our success," said Westaff President and CEO Trish Newman. "In creating a venue that brought all of these important players together in the spirit of leadership and collaboration, this week's Forum reaffirmed Westaff's commitment to our people and relationships in the Chicago-area."
True to the Forum's theme, "The Advancement of Women in Leadership Positions," featured-speaker Francis treated attendees to a snapshot of women in leadership roles at Chicago's top-50 companies and spoke from her heart about the issues she has confronted as a successful woman business leader. Francis, the co-founder of the Chicago-based Corporate Leadership Center, engaged her audience, challenging them to create more positive workplaces for women. She also asked they accept the personal challenge of differentiating themselves from their peers. Francis asserted creating, then leveraging, this differentiation would generate success by providing an advantage to becoming more visible within their companies.
The Westaff Forum series began in 2006. It is designed to give busy professionals the opportunity to listen to experts discuss issues relevant to the workplace. Forums provide the opportunity to discover new methodologies and ways to improve business, as well as the chance to network and share ideas with the local business community. More information about future Westaff Forums can be found on the company Web site, www.westaff.com.
