Grand Prairie, Texas, Resident Honored for Outstanding Work
During National Staffing Employee Week
ARLINGTON, TEXAS, September 22, 2005 -- Westaff, Inc. (NASDAQ: WSTF) announced today that Fannie Blaylock of Grand Prairie, Texas, is the 2005-06 Westaff's Best Southwest Region Temporary Associate -- one of seven regional winners from around the country. Westaff's Best is an annual awards program sponsored by one of the country's top staffing and employment companies to honor the outstanding work of its temporary workforce.
"All of our awardees have one thing in common - an exceptional work ethic," said Trish Newman, Westaff's President and Chief Executive Officer. "Each of them has demonstrated a willingness to go the extra mile and to do it with a great attitude. That's something we never want to take for granted. And it's why I'm extremely pleased to salute and thank these talented employees who are a credit to their communities and to Westaff."
Blaylock stood out as a receptionist at Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation in Grand Prairie, Texas, because of her "dedication and loyalty," said Lynn Sprong, Human Resources Manager for Smurfit-Stone.
"She is unmatched by even our long-term employees," said Sprong, who nominated her. "Our customers and visitors often express that Fannie is a 'ray of sunshine' in their busy days."
Blaylock, 55, will be rewarded with an American Express Gift Check, a Certificate of Recognition from Westaff and other gifts.
As far as her work ethic is concerned, Blaylock said she likes to "help anyone I can, whether it's addressing envelopes or something else. It doesn't matter what your title is - if your neighbor needs help, you should help."
During her two years as a receptionist, Fanny has never missed a day.
"She is the epitome of what a quality Westaff employee is," said Doug Hill, Branch Manager for Westaff-Arlington, Texas. "She is a hard-working, loyal individual."
The awards program, now in its eighth year, coincides with National Staffing Employee Week. The week, September 19-25, is the American Staffing Association's (ASA) nationwide celebration of the country's 2.5 million temporary employees.
Staffing employees offer companies the flexibility they need to keep fully staffed during busy times. Eight out of ten client companies, according to the ASA, feel that temporary employees make good candidates for becoming permanent employees.
The staffing industry provides millions of employees with diverse and challenging assignments as well as free training to help meet today's demand for skilled workers. Over the past two years, staffing companies have created 500,000 new jobs.
Westaff provides staffing services and employment opportunities for businesses in global markets, servicing more than 15,000 client accounts from more than 230 offices located throughout the U.S., the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.
