Cheney, Kansas, Resident Honored for Outstanding Work
During National Staffing Employee Week
WICHITA, KANSAS, September 22, 2005-- Westaff, Inc. (NASDAQ: WSTF) announced today that Paul Fischer of Cheney, Kansas, is the 2005-06 Westaff's Best Greater Midwest Region Temporary Associate -- one of seven regional winners from around the country. Westaff's Best is an annual awards program sponsored by one of the country's top staffing and employment companies to honor the outstanding work of its temporary workforce.
"All of our awardees have one thing in common - an exceptional work ethic," said Trish Newman, Westaff's President and Chief Executive Officer. "Each of them has demonstrated a willingness to go the extra mile and to do it with a great attitude. That's something we never want to take for granted. And it's why I'm extremely pleased to salute and thank these talented employees who are a credit to their communities and to Westaff."
Fischer stood out as a meter reader for Kansas Gas Service in Wichita, Kansas, because of his dedication to his job, said Supervisor Mike Dillon, who nominated Fischer.
"Paul is always willing to volunteer for extra work," Dillon said. "It is not unusual for him to take seven days worth of work and have it completed in five days."
Fischer, 37, will be rewarded with an American Express Gift Check, a Certificate of Recognition from Westaff and other gifts.
A former high school biology teacher, Fischer said that whatever his work, the same goal has always motivated him to do a good job - pride in what he can accomplish.
"I think no matter what you do you have to have pride in your job," he said. "And you have to be there every day. For me, working for Westaff has been a great opportunity. Among other things, it's allowed me the flexibility to spend time with my family. And Kansas Gas Service has also treated me well - they treat me as though they really value me."
Fischer is a "shining star," said Annette Souza, Branch Manager for Westaff-Wichita: "He has always accomplished anything that's been asked of him."
The awards program, now in its eighth year, coincides with National Staffing Employee Week. The week, September 19-25, is the American Staffing Association's (ASA) nationwide celebration of the country's 2.5 million temporary employees.
Staffing employees offer companies the flexibility they need to keep fully staffed during busy times. Eight out of ten client companies, according to the ASA, feel that temporary employees make good candidates for becoming permanent employees.
The staffing industry provides millions of employees with diverse and challenging assignments as well as free training to help meet today's demand for skilled workers. Over the past two years, staffing companies have created 500,000 new jobs.
Westaff provides staffing services and employment opportunities for businesses in global markets, servicing more than 15,000 client accounts from more than 230 offices located throughout the U.S., the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.
