HONOLULU, HAWAII, September 21, 2005 —
Honolulu, Hawaii, Resident Honored for Compassionate, Outstanding Work,
During National Staffing Employee Week
A computer assistant known for his dedication in helping U.S. soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan make contact with loved ones was named the 2005-06 National Staffing Associate by Westaff, Inc. (NASDAQ: WSTF), one of the country's top staffing and employment companies.
Scott Daniels of Honolulu, Hawaii, was chosen from among 60 nominees for the honor. Westaff's Best is an annual awards program to honor the outstanding work of its temporary workforce.
"Scott Daniels has demonstrated a willingness to go the extra mile whilst displaying a wonderful attitude," said Trish Newman, Westaff's President and Chief Executive Officer. "That's something we never want to take for granted. And it's why I'm extremely pleased and proud to salute and thank him. He's an absolute credit to his community and to Westaff."
Daniels stood out in his work as a computer assistant for the Army Community Service at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii, because of his combination of "creative and artistic talent and absolute sincere dedication," said Brian P. Dougherty, Deputy Director of the Army Community Service.
In appreciation for his work, Daniels, 37, who provided video teleconference, web camera and e-mail support to families and soldiers with loved ones deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, will receive $1,000, a Certificate of Recognition from Westaff, an American Express Gift Check, and other gifts.
"Everyone has come to love Scott for his consistent compassion and initiative in helping spouses communicate with their deployed loved ones," said Dougherty, who nominated Daniels. "While working at Army Community Service, everything Scott touched truly 'turned to gold.'"
"Westaff has made it easy for me," Daniels said. "They put me in a place where I love the atmosphere and where there's a real sense of purpose to the work. I mean, because of a video teleconference, a soldier in Iraq can watch his baby take his first steps. It feels great doing this work."
Scott's work has helped many families through a stressful part of their lives, said Westaff Affiliate owner Cathy Grossu, in Honolulu, Hawaii: "Scott's care, concern and keen sense of detail shine clearly through his work."
The awards program, now in its eighth year, coincides with National Staffing Employee Week. The week, September 19-25, is the American Staffing Association's (ASA) nationwide celebration of the country's 2.5 million temporary employees.
Staffing employees offer companies the flexibility they need to keep fully staffed during busy times. Eight out of ten client companies, according to the ASA, feel that temporary employees make good candidates for becoming permanent employees.
The staffing industry provides millions of employees with diverse and challenging assignments as well as free training to help meet today's demand for skilled workers. Over the past two years, staffing companies have created 500,000 new jobs.
Westaff provides staffing services and employment opportunities for businesses in global markets, servicing more than 15,000 client accounts from more than 230 offices located throughout the U.S., the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. Westaff provides client companies with 150,000 temporary and permanent placement employees annually in the areas of administration, call centers and light industry.
