Westaff Appoints New Board Member

Janet M. Brady

WALNUT CREEK, CA, November 12, 2002
Westaff, Inc., (NASDAQ: WSTF) announced today that Janet M. Brady has been appointed to the company's Board of Directors.

Ms. Brady has been a Vice President-Human Resources at The Clorox Company in Oakland since 1993 and previously served as Vice President-Corporate Marketing Services. She is retiring from Clorox at the end of this year. As a former director of American Protective Services, she also worked during the 90s with Westaff President and CEO Dwight Pedersen, who was then the CEO of APS. Pedersen called Ms. Brady "the epitome of a great Director."

"She was always well-prepared, knowledgeable, hard-working, energetic and a great contributor," Pedersen said. "She also has a terrific background in marketing and human resources. Those credentials fit in well with Westaff's goals."

Ms. Brady said she is looking forward to bringing her 26 years of experience in brand management and human resources to Westaff, a leading provider of temporary administrative, accounting, call center and light industrial staff.

"It's a matter of nourishing a brand and making sure you're absolutely true to it," Ms. Brady said. "For Westaff, it's providing consistently high quality customer service and employees — ensuring that our customers feel we are absolutely meeting their needs and that employee number 101 is at least as good as employee number one."

She is also looking forward to working with Westaff, she said, "because it's got great management, a great name, terrific opportunities, a solid infrastructure — all the elements to drive profitable growth. It will be very exciting to be a part of that. I also have nothing but the highest respect for (Westaff CEO) Dwight Pedersen."

Ms. Brady will attend her first Westaff board meeting on December 18. She is currently a director on the Advisory Board of IPSA International and a member of the Global Human Resources Management Council. She also serves as a selection committee member for the University of California at Berkeley Incentive Awards Program.

Ms. Brady earned a BS in business and an MBA at the University of California at Berkeley.

Westaff, with headquarters in Walnut Creek, CA, provides staffing business solutions for more than 20,000 clients, and employment and training to 175,000 temporary and Permanent Placement employees annually.

Westaff has 305 offices throughout the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Norway and Denmark. The company achieved fiscal 2001 revenues of more than $580 million. For more information about Westaff, please visit our Web site at www.westaff.com.
